Specs and Features of HP Zbook X2 Detachable Workstation

The HP Zbook X2 looks and feels undoubtedly powerful. It isn’t just a laptop or just a tablet, it is robust form of both of these combined. Some of the features and specs of the Zboob X2 are given below.

Design

You wouldn’t have seen any laptop like this. It looks powerful, its look alone is industrial grade. The back is plain gunmetal gray with reflective Z logo and vents all over in the octagonal design. It has a pull-out kiskstand which extends up to 165 degrees.

Along the front side, there is thick bezel surrounding the 14-inch, 4K matte display. The top of the bezel houses webcam and infrared camera for logging in. each side has 6 buttons each which can be programmed for various purpose. The keyboard attaches with magnets to the bottom of the tablet and has the same color scheme as the rest of the body. HP claims the machine to be MIL-STD 810G tested and it has no issues with shocks, drops and vibrations. All the ports are on the right side with headphone jack and a lock slot on the left side.

It is just like an All-in-one PC with everything behind the display meaning you get same level of performance with or without the bottom attached. With the given dimension and weight, the Zbook is larger than any other workstations. While the Surface book has additional battery capacity and GPU on its base, Zbook has everything on the top. While Surface feels much more like a tablet, Zbook is somewhat clunkier to feel as tablet.

Display

Zbook X2 comes with 14-inch 4K panel, one of the most vivid ones in the market. It’s a matte touch screen with a chemical coating which when paired with a stylus feels like writing on the paper. The display can show 1 billion different colors which pops up in some areas while being some disappointing in others. The Zbook has 16:9 aspect ratio and covers 178% of the sRGB color gamut. The matte display is very helpful while drawing, but for reviewing the drawing, a screen somewhat glossier is great.

Stylus and Shortcuts

The stylus offered with the Zbook X2 is similar to a real-life pen with comfortable weight to it. The stylus has 4,096 degrees of pressure sensitivity in both tip and eraser. The Zbook stylus has no need for charging like the ones with the Apple pencil.

The shortcut buttons are on the sides of the screen. It comes in handy while using without the keyboard. The shortcut buttons are programmable with the HP’s Create control panel which can adjust those buttons as well as the preference for the eraser and pen. With adobe photoshop and illustrator installed, the buttons get pre-populated with suggestions. You can adjust the tip and the eraser feel for the stylus, the tilt sensitivity, and the extra button on the pen. The button doesn’t need a lot of pressure to work. The stylus comes with a carrying case but most of you would wish it was magnetic, sticking to the side of screen when not in use.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The detachable keyboard is weak point for most of the 2-in-1s around. But the Zbook X2’s keyboard is comparable to a full-size laptop keyboard. The keys have 1.5mm of travel and have clicky feel to it. The keyboard has a battery of its own. It can be connected to the top half not just with the pogo pins, but also over the Bluetooth. You can still be using the system with keyboard after it is detached. It charges through the main system when docked or has a micro USB port to charge separately. The touchpad is spacious and responds quickly to the Windows 10 gestures.

Audio

The audio quality of the X2 is fairly forgivable. The speakers are on the top back of the tablet which means using it in the laptop mode will have the speaker fire away from you. The vocals are quite decent, but the bass is not up to the mark. All in all, if you like some Boom Boom music, you would better pair it with an external speaker. Using it in tablet mode with the kick-stand at its full opening will however sound loud by the reflection from the table.

Performance

The Zbook X2 is packed with top of the line specs. The most notable part is 32GB of RAM which is double the capacity of some of the tables and convertibles can offer. There are plenty of processor and storage option available as mentioned on the specification table above. With the Intel Core i7-8650U processor, 32Gb of RAM, and an NVIDIA Quadro M620 with 2GB of VRAM, everyday task is a piece of cake. On the Geekbench 4 overall performance, the Zbook scored 15,308 which is greater than the average workstation score. The Zbook’s PCIe SSD is faster than the average, faster than the Surface but slower than MacBook Pro.

The overall performance is better than the par scores, but when it comes to pure graphics, it is lost somewhere. While the Surface Book 2 has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, its performance outcasts the Zbook. The Surface 2 is meant for the entry-level VR and high-level gaming while Zbook X2 I meant for the designers and creatives focused mostly on the visuals.

Battery Life

If you plan on using your laptop while travelling, you will always need a charger while travelling. Through intensive web surfing, graphics test and videos, the battery lasted merely 4 hours and 9 minutes which is less than the average workstation. This might be because the DreamColor Screen uses the discrete GPU at all time. Turning off the DreamColor will give a boost to the battery life, but it is only fair enough.

Webcam

The front webcam and the rear camera are definitely a unique combo to the laptops of this kind. The front camera is 720p selfie camera while the rear one is a 3264×1836 shooter. The rear camera is for the ease of the artists to click pictures of the subject they would want to sketch. The cameras have mixed experiences with some lagging and some excelling features.

Heat

HP Zbook X2 Detachable Workstation

The environment gets a little toasty under heavy load. Using it in the laptop mode is fairly easier on the cooling side with the vents all over. But in the tablet mode, it can hit somewhat 97degree Fahrenheit which is few degrees above the comfortable threshold.

Accessories

The list of accessories is longer. Every version might not get the accessories similar, but it’s worth noting. The accessories include:

  • HP laser 3 button USB Mouse
  • HP HDMI to DVI Adapter
  • HDMI to VGA Adapter
  • HP USB 3.0 to Gigabit Adapter
  • HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter
  • HP Business Top Load Case
  • HP USB-C to VGA Adapter
  • HP USB-C to HDMI Adapter
  • HP Comfort Grip Wireless Mouse

  • HP 65-watt External Power Supply with Power Cord
  • HP Mobile USB DVDRW NonLS

Zbook X2 is meant to be used with the Adobe’s Creative Suite, however, it is not included free. Though it can provide you a better deal on a one-year subscription for $479 which is 20% off the usual $49.99 monthly. The HP Zbook X2 detachable workstation is sold with a year warranty by default but you can bump it to three years for just $121.

HP Zbook X2 Pricing

Looking at the specs and the configuration the HP is selling pre-configured, the price lands up above the $2,400 mark. Though you can customize the system as per your choice, the cheapest one would cost you $1,647.36 with Intel Core i5-8250U CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB SATA SSD, a 4K non-DreamColor display, no webcam, no discrete GPU, no fingerprint reader, no stylus, FreeDOS 2.0 instead of Windows 10. It isn’t recommendable one but shows off that customization can be done. You can keep things you really want and ditch the rest. Though, sticking up with the pre-configured device would be ideal choice.

Wrapping Off

If you are someone with the professional-grade inking capability and want adobe integration, go no further than HP Zbook X2 detachable workstation. It might be heavier to your pocket starting at $2,429. You might as well have a look at the other alternative as the 15-inch Apple MscBook Pro (starting at $2,399) and 15-inch Surface Book 2 (starting at $2,499). All these 3 workstations complement each other in one way or they fill in the gaps left by others, leaving theirs behind.

At last, the decision lands up on you. Whichever device you opt for, none of them are cheap choices. Be wise and choose the right one for your pocket and your need. The HP Zbook X2 detachable workstation is a specialized tool for the digital creatives who require power, high resolution screen, fantastic assisting tool like stylus, and accessible shortcuts for their Adobe creative suites with little sacrifice in the battery life. If it suits you, have no second thought and just go for it. You can make the purchase for much more category of the Zbook X2 available from the HP Official Store. Acer Predator Triton 900 - Acer Predator Amazon

Acer Predator Triton 900 Gaming Laptop First Look

First Look of Acer Predator Triton 900 2-in-1 Convertible Gaming Laptop 2018

Acer has the craziest ideas and weird form factors when it comes to producing new laptops. Acer just disclosed its latest gaming laptop, the Acer Predator Triton 900 at IFA press 2018 in Berlin, which literally it comes with a twist. The newly divulged Predator Triton 900 looks similar to Acer’s other laptops, but with a convertible screen that flips around. The new model might not be as flashy as the company’s Predator Thronos gaming chair, but it’s a good deal.

The Acer Predator Triton 900 is a 2-in-1 convertible gaming laptop which has a 4K, Nvidia G-Sync equipped with a screen that rotates 180-degrees on a pair of CNC-machined hinge near its mid-section that can flip the screen into various positions depending on how you want to use the device. The ability to tilt the angle of the display will make the general gameplay and work a lot more comfortable but it would have been great if the arms could extend a little for height adjustment.

Acer Predator Triton 900 comes with Acer’s Aeroblade 3D fans

The Triton 900 has the fourth-generation of Acer’s Aeroblade 3D fans, which are designed to increase airflow with less noise. Acer CEO Jason Chen says for the fan’s design the company drew on owls for inspiration using a serrated edge on the tip of each fan which lets air pass through the blade while reducing turbulence.

Moreover, it features a full mechanical keyboard with an RGB lighting and a switchable trackpad with a hidden, light-up number pad underneath, a front-facing speaker and a couple of other cool features that make it worthy of your attention.

Predator Triton 900 specs details will come soon

Acer didn’t share all the specs for the Triton 900 at the IFA launch, but it is guaranteed that it will be a beast. CPU or GPU the machine will run and how much storage it will have, how big the battery, the price and the release date of the laptop are still unknown. Though the specs aren’t yet disclosed, you can bet it will be in excess of £2,000.

But it is still unclear that how the Triton 900 would perform as a tablet because it seems impossible as it looks a bit too bulky and heavy for some cases.

Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor - Curved Gaming Monitor

Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor Review

Full Review of Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

The Samsung CJ89 is among that type of monitor which has laid its existence for a short amount of time. With widescreen panels, they are not as expensive as they once were and the Vertical Alignment (VA) panels aren’t as high-priced as they used to be, and also, the technology has overcome many of its previous limitations. The new CJ89 is at the point where people can get a fairly impressive ultra-wide panel from a mainstream brand in less amount.

Structure of Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

The Samsung CJ89 43-inch is a Super Ultra-wide Curved Monitor which measures 45.2 x 10.8 x 17.5-inches with 10-inch depth, including the front and back-end of the stand’s legs. When the stand is removed, the panel sinks near about 3” in depth, depending upon  point of the curve you measure. Moreover it is a heavy television weighing 35.5 pounds with the stand.

The screen stretches 43” diagonally, similar to a pair of 24-inches monitors. It creates unique 32:10 aspect ratio which is calculated by a simple multiplication of the 16:10 aspect ratio used by a standard 24” monitor. The native resolution is 3840 x1200 that works out to about 93 pixels per inch, which is far better than 1080p resolution on a 24” panel.

Screen Display Buttons

Display buttons located on the bottom side of the front bezel and centered near the right-hand side of the panel to make changes in the visual presentation. Working on Samsung display interface is quite simple because they’ve kept operation down to a small handful of buttons.

However, making adjustments with those operations is not an easy process. Similar to other monitors, you’ve got to go through the menu to reach the settings you’re trying to find. But once you’ve searched through the menu, you’ll be able to continue your procedure smoothly.

Sound System

Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor - 4k Curved Monitor

The Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-wide Curved Monitor has a pair of 5-watt stereo speakers on its backside which provides essential sound support. These speakers are the best to supplement with external PC speakers.

The speakers of Samsung CJ89 do sound better than many top PC monitors. This maybe because the CJ89 is somewhat larger than ordinary monitors, which ultimately provides more space for speaker components.

Curvature and Bezel

You can see the ultra-wide curvature of CJ89 at your first glance. The main advantage of switching to larger ultra-wide panels is the great degrees of immersion. Besides that, the CJ89 monitor have a favored viewing space which gives preferential treatment to one viewer, or a pair or viewers sitting close.

Samsung uses a razor thin bezel on the CJ89 to keep immersion building. The larger panel’s bezel thickness isn’t as important for immersion as it is on smaller panels because the ultra-wide screen takes up a larger part of your perceptual field than smaller monitors. But in spite of that, a thin bezel contributes to the modern aesthetic of the new CJ89.

Mounts and Stands of Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

The CJ89’s has a fairly excellent, which is far better than other ultra-wide monitors. The stand takes up very little desk space, looks simple and actually fairly adjustable. Moreover, the panel is also VESA standardized so you can throw the panel on a compatible arm and the monitor fits on most medium-sized VESA mounts.

Connectivity Features In Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor - Best Samsung Monitor

Connectivity wise, the Samsung CJ89 is fully loaded. Hidden underside the back panel there is: a pair of an USB-C up port connecting peripherals and smart phones, 2 USB 2.0 down ports, 1 USB 3.0 down port, 1 HDMI 2.0 port, 1 DisplayPort 1.2 port, and a headphone jack.

But there is no DVI port or VGA port. Moreover, the USB-C port allows data, video, audio, and power transmission through a single cable.

There is also a built-in KVM switch which can easily toggle between and control the connected devices.

Visual Accuracy

The Samsung CJ89 provides 120Hz refresh rate which can be down-toggled to 60Hz as per your wish. This is useful for gamers who want to play games in excess of 60 frames per second. But, even everyday users can feel differences in its smoothness between 60Hz and 120Hz panels.

More Features of Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

The Samsung CJ89 has a picture by picture mode, allowing user to display two PC inputs at the same time. With CJ89 user can just connect another device, like a laptop, and have both screens run in parallel on the CJ89.

Also, it has a picture-in-picture mode where you can split-screen into several windows, maximum six, fully dividing the workspace for a project. Moreover, the size of the windows is customizable.

During collaboration with one of those modes, you can use the built-in KVM switch to control multiple PCs at the same time. For saving desktop space or multitasking, your options open wide.

The Samsung CJ89 has further two more features that have become stand-out feature in almost all big monitor brands. They are flicker-free eye-saver mode, and a mode which reduces blue light emissions. These features   can be used to reduce strain on your eyes.

Why Choose the Samsung CJ89 Super Ultra-wide Curved Monitor?

Samsung CJ89 43-inch Super Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor - Samsung Monitor cj89 Price

Ultra-wide monitors are one of the unique thing. Some people love them, while others are uncertain about it. On top of that, the CJ89 is somewhat different compared to other typical ultra-wide panels.

For gamers, this panel isn’t gamer-oriented, thus can be hit-and-miss for the players. It’s not the right choice for players who are playing fast-moving action games, but for visually immersive games, the VA panel performs meritoriously. For work station, the Samsung CJ89 Super Ultra-wide Curved Monitor is an excellent choice as it is dividable.

And for movies, the CJ89 has a highly competitive range of visual quality and a quite developed sound system. The ultra-wide presentation uses a multiplication of the standard 16:9 aspect ratio and there is no a bunch of black bars around your media.

With all the advantages in a dual monitor, there are still some issues that need to be dealt with. Unless the both monitors are identically sized and calibrated, their display suffers further. Moreover, the number of cables is twice as many cables to manage, which ultimately leads to using more desk space with two separate stands.
